8 February 1884, in Pokhran town,
In Marwar land, his glory was born.
In the house of Seth Khinwaraj Rathi bright,
Was born Seth Damodar Das Rathi, a guiding light.
Matric passed, worker for public good,
A skilled businessman as he firmly stood.
He ran Krishna Mill, first of Marwari name,
India’s first factory that brought him fame.
In many big cities he opened mills wide,
Ginning factories where progress did ride.
At just nineteen, young in age and grace,
He became Municipality member of the place.
Like a true servant he served the people each day,
Helping the public in every possible way.
For freedom of nation he had true fire,
Like Bhamashah, he gave wealth for freedom’s desire.
From Mahatma Gandhi he drew pure inspiration,
From Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Sri Aurobindo, love for the nation.
He met great leaders for country’s aim,
Worked for India’s honour and name.
Dadabhai Naoroji blessed him with affection true,
Surendranath Banerjee and Madan Mohan Malaviya too.
Motilal Ghosh and Lala Lajpat Rai gave love and hand,
Supported his efforts for motherland.
To Ram Gopal Singh Rathi, his dearest friend so brave,
In armed movement full support he gave.
He followed Tilak ji’s policies with care,
Gave support and stood firm everywhere.
In Beawar he formed Arya Samaj with zeal,
Home Rule League to make freedom real.
For education he built schools and more,
Sanatan Dharma School, College, Navbharat at the door.
On 2 January 1918 he left this earth’s ground,
A Bhamashah of Rajasthan’s freedom he was found.
