3336 Letter (English poetry)

My heart beats hot like a blazing fire,

Mother, I am writing you this letter.

For my country, I am ready to become dust,

Draped in saffron robes of honor and trust.

I say this holding soil in fist.

My heart beats hot like a blazing fire,

Mother, I am writing you this letter.

The enemy has crossed our borders today,

So we too have pitched our camps to stay.

Now I march ahead, to merge with the soil,

My heart beats hot like a blazing fire,.

Mother, I am writing you this letter.

I will raise the tricolour on the frontier high,

Or return wrapped in it, if I must die.

Mother, I speak no false or hollow word

My heart beats hot like a blazing fire,

Mother, I am writing you this letter.

You too will feel proud once more,

Father’s chest will swell like never before.

If I live, I’ll come home on leave someday.

My heart beats hot like a blazing fire,

Mother, I am writing you this letter.
