2909 I wander aimless (English poetry)

I wander aimless, heart in hand, through streets that never end,

Found nothing clear, though I drew near to words that did pretend.

The world now asks we fill our hearts with logic and the mind,

Even love’s a careful art, shaped by caste and kind.

Simple souls we were back then, caught in tales untrue,

Tell me how to break these chains, stuck in what we knew.

Somehow my days keep passing, as I carry on,

But you don't know what happens, when the nights are long.

Those who forge the bonds of love, build them pure and right,

While the world is caught and bound, in bloodlines tight.

Who could know that love would cost, more than one could bear,

Heart we gained, but broken found, in love’s fragile care.

In this game of love,'Geet' you’ve gathered grief and pain,

While the world counts all its wealth, filling banks with gain.
