3181 When the Wind Begins to Dance (English poetry)

 Punjabi version 2440
Hindi version 1053

When the wind begins to dance,
My heart feels lost in trance.

Oh breeze, so wild and free,
Tell me what he feels for me.

When the wind begins to blow,
My heart begins to glow.

How do I calm its beat?
Tell me, wind, so sweet.

The evening laughs with cheer,
The playful breeze is near.

Still I sit so still and shy,
Tell him, breeze, don’t pass me by.

I too wish to sway and sing,
Like the wind in early spring.

Tell me, love, what should I do?
Should I dance and call to you?

My heart just longs to sway,
With the breeze, come what may.

Let me lose all sense and name,
If your hands hold mine the same.

Let the air be full of scent,
Let the moment be heaven-sent.

Let my dreams come true tonight,
With you forever in my sight.

When the breeze turns sweet and wild,
Let me forget, become a child.

Let you forget your name too,
As we drift in skies so blue.

No more worries, no more fear,
Let us melt and disappear.

In each other we confide,
Lost in love, side by side.
