ਸਾਥ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਨਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਤਾਂ,
ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਹੁਣ ਇਹ ਜਵਾਨੀ ਇੰਜ ਢਲਦੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।

ਬੜੀ ਹੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਕਰ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੀ ਭਰੀ ਖਾਈ,
ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਤੇ ਨਫ਼ਰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਈ ਕਿਸ ਨਵੀਂ ਦੀਵਾਰ।

ਕੋਈ ਕੀ ਜਾਣੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਪੀੜਾ,
ਜਿਸਨੇ ਲੁਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਆਪਣਾ।

ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਆਖਣ ਤੇ ਉਲਟ ਜਵਾਬ ਭਰਦੀ,
ਉਹੀ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹੁਣ ਚੁੱਪ ਹੀ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰਦੀ।
ਜੋ ਬਚਪਨ 'ਚ ਖੇਡਾਂ, ਕੁਦਾਂ, ਮੌਜਾਂ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਕਰਦੀ,
ਉਹੀ ਦੂਰ ਸਹੁਰੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੀ।
ਕਿੰਨਾ ਬਦਲ ਗਿਆ ਰੂਪ ਉਸ ਮਾਸੂਮ ਕੁੜੀ ਦਾ,
ਉਹੀ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹੁਣ ਨਿਖਰਦੀ ਤੇ ਸੰਵਰਦੀ।
ਆਖਰ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਘਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਉਸਦਾ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਪਾਈ,
ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮੌਜਾਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਜਾਂ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੀ।

ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਹਨ ਇਹ ਬੱਚੇ,
